Community

King’s Lynn Academy is a school which sits at the heart of the community it serves; a community whose faith has seen numbers grow consistently over the past three years from just over 600 to almost 900 and rising. The academy has been oversubscribed for the past two years and this year sees it as the most oversubscribed secondary school in Norfolk.

The KLA community has its families at its heart alongside an exceptional staff team who strive daily to encourage students to become the very best versions of themselves.  Over the past few years our community have recognised the staff at KLA and we have seen nominations for KLFM Local Hero Awards as well as being shortlisted in the finals of a national Teaching Assistant of the Year competition.

It is always our pleasure to welcome our community through the doors of the academy to join us for various activities. We have held a MacMillan coffee morning at KLA for the past nine years with staff, parents and students baking cakes and serving tea and coffee to the community and raising more than £9000 for the charity at the same time.  We also play our part in supporting other charities throughout the school year, vis non-uniform days and student-led initiatives.

Our annual Christmas meal for the elderly sees 100 locals invited into the academy for a festive lunch, cooked and served by the KLA team. Pensioners are treated to live musical performances, raffles and a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. At the very first event two former students were reunited for the first time in years as they sat in the newest part of their old school.

Whether it’s youth teams playing football on our pitches at the weekend or the Gateway Church worshipping in the central hub on a Sunday morning, KLA’s place within the local community is one of which we are immensely proud, and are keen to see grow yet further as we continue to improve and develop.
